Welcome to 8th edition of the Velebit Trekking, an impressive ultra trail race that will take competitors through the Croatian mythical mountain, one of the last remaining untouched wildernesses in Europe! The race is divided in two categories: Ultra trail course with distance of 50-60 km and 3550 meters of positive elevation and Challenger trail course with distance of 25-35 km and 1750 meters positive elevation. The race trail is very well marked and is consisted of several check and water points. Carrying the mandatory equipment through the entire course competitors must to plan necessary food, water and tactics of moving and resting. All forms of civilization are avoided giving the competitors a real sense of a pure adventure. Join and experience Velebit - the mythical mountain that will take your breaths away!

The competitors will awake ghosts of the past by travelling through historical places of that have for centuries presented a great obstacle for many conquerors. At the peak of their power, glorious Roman legions have never suppressed the rebellion of hostile Ilyric tribes that were living here. The Mongolian invasion has stopped at the foot of the Dalmatian strongholds below Velebit Mountain. The Republic of Venice, the greatest naval and trading power in the medieval age, has never succeeded in conquering the glorious Uskoks of Senj town, finishing destination of the race. For five centuries this region defended the Western Europe from the Great Turkish invaders. In its most recent history, Velebit was an invincible bulwark for Serbian aggressors that attempted to conquer the heart of Croatia. Slavic tribes of Croats arrived in these territories in the 7th century AD. Having seen the Adriatic Sea from Velebit s peaks they probably thought it was Paradise.

Through the challenges of this unique adventure you will experience this mountain in a magical way and become a part of its extraordinary beauty of the one of the most beautiful and diverse mountain in Europe. The voyage will be hard and demanding, but everybody will stop at least for a moment to enjoy a beautiful view of Adriatic Sea, scent of thick pine forests of North Velebit National Park and raw beauty of harsh stones in Paklenica National Park.
